PDUs for event: 1.5

Achieving Discretionary Performance Systematically, Deliberately and Consistently: Part 2

PDU Category: Leadership

During our Part 1 Round Table discussion in May we talked about the importance of Behavior in achieving organizational results. We focused on the Antecedent – Behavior – Consequence connection and learned that leaders spent the majority of our time on Antecedents (Prompts) that have, at best, limited impact on people’s behaviors.

As promised, in this session we will discuss several tools/concepts that are essential to help leaders “bring out the best” in people. Specifically, we will:

  • See that Behavior is viewed as a continuous choice
  • Understand how people make behavioral choices
  • Understand the impact of various types of consequences on behavior
  • Practice the basis of effective Reinforcement

This session will be somewhat interactive to practice these essential concepts of the Science of Human behavior so that participants will be able to apply them consciously and correctly to achieve sustained high commitment to the project team’s objectives
