Power Skills

Topic:  Leading Without Authority: Using the Power of Purpose to Make Things Happen

PDU Categories/Hours:  Leadership / 1.5 Hours

Synopsis of Presentation.  How can you move projects forward if you do not have the authority or resources you need?  David Bauman will explain how to use sources of power and influence that we often ignore to move projects forward, or at least position them to receive the support they need.  Attendees will learn:

  • How humans are motivated to act and resist action
  • Sources of power that derive from purpose rather than authority. These include the powers of invitation, framing, praxis, and balancing the wheel.
  • Which sources of power to use to solve specific problems.
