Title: Stand Out in the Interview: The Power of Career Stories

Presented by Jeff Cann, PMP and Leadership Career Coach

Most candidates answer interview questions. The strongest candidates tell stories that demonstrate how they think, lead, solve problems, and deliver results.

In this session, you’ll learn a simple framework for building compelling career stories, create a 3-5 career stories you can draw from during interviews, practice delivering stories with confidence, and learn exactly when to use them to leave a lasting impression.

You’ll leave with a simple and practice approach you can apply in your very next interview.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn what makes a compelling career story
  • Build one career story to use in your next interview
  • Learn how to practice your stories
  • Discover when and how to tell them in interviews

SPEAKER BIO:

Early in his career, Jeff struggled to estimate tasks as a software developer.  This frustration led him to discover the field of project management, and he earned his PMP™ in 2006.

Little did he know that the PMP credential would be one significant pillar in his career as a business leader who specialized in technology.

In addition to managing many programs and projects he worked at all levels of leadership across 6 industries from companies that range from startups to $6B in revenue.  He spent 15 years in the C-Suite as a Chief Strategy Officer and as a Chief Information Officer.

Throughout his leadership roles, he practiced the art and science of hiring the best people.  He believes this is one of the top three skills of great leaders.
