Started in 2011, the CDOT innovation and improvement initiative is now in its Second Decade. Come hear how the principles and practices of Lean Project Management are helping to transform state government!

As a member of the CDOT top leadership, Gary Vansuch directs efforts to improve the organization’s operations and to make government more effective, efficient and elegant. Gary has over 40 years of business improvement and change leadership experience in the energy, financial services and government services sectors.
Gary is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a Certified Change Management Practitioner. Additionally, he served 6 years with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award program, including 4 years as a Senior Examiner and as a member of the national Case Study Development Team. He has also been a Judge for ASQ’s International Team Excellence Awards, and a Judge for the RIT / USA Quality Cup competition for improvement teams.
And, CDOT’s Lean Everyday Ideas program – the flagship program for innovation and improvement at CDOT – was chosen as one of the Top 25 Innovations in American Government by the 2018 Innovations in American Government Awards program, which is administered by Harvard University’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
