Presentation: "Influence Without Authority: The Surprising Research on What Works"

Project Leaders face a daunting challenge: how to change people's behavior when you have little authority over

them? We must change their minds! In this session we will share the surprising and sometimes counter-intuitive

research into techniques used by the best negotiators, debaters, and coaches. You'll learn nine proven and

practical ways to increase your influence, even if you're not the boss!

Attendees will take away:

1 Understand the techniques used by the best negotiators and debaters to maximize their influence

2 Be able to use a 5-step dialogue framework to influence and empower people

3 Identify specific situations where you can apply these techniques

Presentation Part 2: "Six Ways to Prioritize by Business Value"

We all know that it’s important to prioritize work by business value. But how do we know the relative value of all those

items, when every item is important to some stakeholder out there? I will share six practical techniques you can use -

from simple methods to relatively complicated approaches. We will also explore the situations and contexts where

each technique can be effective.

Attendees will take away:

1 The important criteria to consider when prioritizing work

2 Six techniques for prioritizing project or backlog items

3 The factors to consider for deciding which prioritization technique to use for a situation
