Mile Hi Project Management Day of Service

The Project Management Institute Mile High Chapter is sponsoring a free one day project planning event, Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS). The PMDoS is where nonprofit organizations are paired with project management professionals to develop realistic project plans for upcoming initiatives, such as program expansions, system implementations, property relocations, fundraising events, or capital campaigns.  By leveraging the PMI organizational maturity model, we will assist the nonprofit organizations with outlining a plan, completing analysis of implementation options, and defining a strategy for the nonprofit to follow in order to implement and complete their project.

Prior to the event, the nonprofit will complete Initiative Statements and outline what assistance they need.  By the end of the event, the nonprofit will have a clear understanding of the problem or initiative they are trying to solve and a practical plan to address it. We will provide expert advice from seasoned project managers and a customized strategy on how the nonprofit should proceed with implementing a solution.  The customized proposal of each nonprofit will be different - deliverables may include a project plan, communications plan, business case, or other project execution/delivery tools.  The customized plan will include key deliverables and tasks for achieving the nonprofit’s goal and recommended solutions/mitigation plans to resolve potential risks and issues.

The steps and key outcomes of the process that will be used on the PMDoS are as follows:

  • Plan: Clearly understand and document the nonprofit’s initiative or problem to be solved.
  • Options Analysis: Identify options, the pros/cons of each option, rank options and select the option that will be the best solution for the nonprofit.
  • Develop Strategy: Develop a more detailed solution and document a customized plan for the nonprofit from the current state to the future state.
